What should I wear?
Layers are great and anything with a lot of texture. Colors and patterns that work well together but aren’t matching work well. Avoid anything with legible writing or logos as it is very distracting in the photo. Also avoid wearing a plain white top as it can make it difficult to balance the photograph. Remember not to wear anything too trendy as in years to come you will say to yourself, “Why did I wear that!” Wear what you are comfortable with but something that is timeless.
Do you travel for an event?
As a matter of fact, the vast majority of the weddings we shoot are destination weddings all over the globe. We do charge a very reasonable, flat travel rate depending on your event location.
Do you ever book more than one event per day?
No, we never want to be rushed in getting to another appointment. We want our attention solely upon you. We only book one event per day.
Do you have back up equipment in case of a malfunction?
Yes, We take very good care of all our equipment and have never had an equipment failure. However, we always keep back up equipment with us as a precaution.
How long after the event will it take for me to view my photographs?
Typically by the next week or so you will have an email with a link to view a sample gallery of your images. The full gallery of original images and edited photographers choices will be available around 14-21 days after a wedding and 5-7 days for any other event. It takes some time to upload the hi-resolution file of every photograph taken at your event to the Internet. After receiving the new link, the images are yours to keep and you can send us a list of your favorites you want to have edited. It is at this time we will discuss images for use in the wedding album.
How many photos will I receive?
For a typical wedding, we shoot between 1,000 and 1,500 images all of which you will receive. Although you might enjoy viewing that many photographs, research shows most people loose interest in viewing pictures after about 40 images. Therefore, we are primarily concerned with the quality of the photographs not the quantity. With your help, we choose around 40 of the most stunning and memorable photographs to include in your wedding album. For most other events, around 400-500 photographs will be taken.
How many of the images will be edited?
We edit 50 images for weddings and 20 for any other event (these are studio’s choice except for the full-day wedding package). You may choose your favorites to have edited at a rate of $11.95 per photograph. Once we’re done, the hi-resolution file is yours to keep.
What type of equipment do you use?
We only use Nikon professional photography equipment. The same equipment used by Photojournalists, Wedding Photographers, and Professionals around the world. We always carry multiple cameras, lenses, flashes, portable lighting equipment, and even back drops to accommodate any given situation.
Do you shoot with film or digital?
We shoot digital. Jason learned photography on a Hasselblad film camera (the same camera astronauts use today, since it is completely manual and requires no battery), but about five years ago transitioned to digital photography. Although there are advantages and disadvantages to film and digital photography, we have decided the positives of digital far outweigh the negatives.
Do you shoot Family Reunions?
Yes. We love shooting family reunions even with all of the screaming babies, squirming kids, and grouchy husbands. Although our objective is to photograph the big group, most people like to break down and shoot individual families. We love to do this, but it should be remembered, our main purpose is to photograph the large group and catch some candids at the reunion and not shoot formal family photos of each smaller group. We take the time typically devoted to one family portrait session and divide amongst your entire group.
How can I reserve my date?
For weddings, we only require a deposit of 40% to reserve your date on our master calendar. We believe in the honesty of strangers and therefore currently do not require a deposit for any other events. The deposit is refundable if for some unfortunate reason the wedding is called off.
Are you willing to negotiate the price?
In today’s economy, we all want the most for our money. A truth that we have learned over the years is that the lowest price is not always what we really want. Most people look for three things when making an important investment such as photography:
1. The finest quality
2. The best service, and
3. The lowest price
We have yet to find a company that is able to offer all three of these. I truly believe the quality of photographs and service we provide are far superior to some photographers who charge three to four times as much. Truthfully, it is virtually impossible to find a high quality photographer who is willing to hand over all the originals. We feel that in and of itself is worth the price. When it comes to lasting memories and the long term happiness of your decision, which of the three are you willing to give up?
When is payment due?
Payment is due in full on the day of your scheduled session. Unfortunately, no photographs including sample sets are released until the payment is received in full.
