Well if you are looking for some fancy bio and more formal photos about me you are more than welcome to check out my official website. This space is a bit more relaxed so you can get a feel for what I love to do. Below I have posted just a few photos of myself.
Growing up in Southern California, I learned to love the beach. My family would spend all of our free time down by the water. Family vacations were spent body surfing in San Clemente, water skiing on Lake Meade, and snow skiing at Snowmass in Aspen. Needless to say we love water in all of its forms. Once on a family trip, someone forgot their swim suit and the comment was made, “You must not be a West!” It seems ironic that I love the water as much as I do because when I was a toddler, I drowned in our backyard and my mother being a RN resesitated me. Living part time in a land locked state, such as Idaho, has been a challenge, but frequent trips back to the ocean seem to work well.
I’m 28 years old and am the youngest of five, with four older sisters of which now are all my best friends! The photo below of us is more than a decade old, but I think it is up to me to come up with something more up to date. I served an LDS mission in Taipei, Taiwan for two years and have returned to Asia more than seven times since then. I have been to Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Tibet, China, Taiwan, and Bali in Indonesia. I must say I would make the best partner on the show, “The Amazing Race.” Some day, I would love to take the trans Siberian railroad from Beijing to Moscow. We’ll see how that works out.
I went to school at BYU-Idaho and surprisingly enough, didn’t study photography, but business. I was on the competitive swim team there but also played intermural water polo since there was no competitive league for it; still super fun nonetheless. Rexburg winters really kill me and they are about 4 months too long; that is why I try to spend limited time in Rexburg during those months, I guess you live in Idaho for the summers.
Photography has always been a passion of mine. My dad being an amazing photographer himself, taught me most of what I know and continues to bail me out when I just can’t seem to get a setting right on my camera. He really does have all the answers when it comes to Photography. I remember being in charge of setting up all of the studio equipment when a bride would come to our home for a bridal session. I was even small enough to fit inside the equipment bag (I’ll have to see if I can find that photo).
My life honestly is so fun in the fact that everyday I wake up and know I am making a living doing something that I absolutely love. I always said I just wanted a job that made people smile. I still remember after the first wedding I shot and seeing the bride’s face when I showed her her photographs, so fun!
